Are you a nervous outsourcer? Maybe it’s the first time you’ve worked with a Virtual Assistant (VA) or you’ve never outsourced before. You may be feeling nervous due to a negative experience of outsourcing or uncertainty over how it all works. But know that it’s also an exciting sign when you need to look for a VA. It signifies your business is growing and it’s time to expand your team! So it’s totally understandable that you’re feeling nervous about it all.

However, you cannot let those nerves hold you back. You need to jump in and start outsourcing, in order to free up your time and get more done in your business. So here’s how to outsource to a Virtual Assistant if you’re a nervous outsourcer.

If you’re a nervous outsourcer, start small

You can ease those fears and worries, by starting small. Look to initially hand over small tasks to your VA. You could also block a small package of time with your VA (such as 5 hours a month), to ease yourself into outsourcing and to save money whilst you’re setting into the new routine.

Opt for more accountability when you outsource to a VA

Accountability is a way you can stay in control, even when you’re outsourcing. Look to factor in more accountability (such as a weekly call and progress report), to have regular check-ins to ease your fears. It’s also a great idea to share what you want to achieve each week. As this helps you and your VA to stay on track, be focused and work from the same page.

Focus on the results

One key tip to easing your nerves is to focus on the results, not the process. Often, it’s the results you get from the tasks that are most important to you. If you free yourself (and your VA) from the restraints of working to your existing process, your VA will often produce a better and faster end result. It also enables them to share improvements and suggestions, to further streamline the process.

Look to build trust over time

Trust is something that takes time to build, and that’s no different when working with a VA. But building trust requires good communication between you both. Encourage open and honest feedback on tasks and respect your VA enough to do the same.

Nervous about outsourcing? Just make a start

It’s understandable that you may feel nervous about outsourcing. The key to getting past those nerves though is doing it. Just make the decision and make a start. Your VA will have experience working with nervous outsourcers, so share your concerns and fears. They can then do all they can, to help you move forward and get the results you’re looking for.

Here at RHVA, we’ve worked with many different businesses and types of entrepreneurs. Most of our clients start off on a 5hr maximum a month package, specifically so they can work on getting to know us and build trust, before increasing their package of time.

So if you’re nervous, do reach out and get in touch. We can have an informal chat about your concerns and the available options. Simply head on over to our calendar and book a suitable time to talk – and we’ll do all we can to help calm your nerves and clarify your next steps.
