Gratitude is such an important part of your business experience. Whether you’re a grateful client or a thankful business owner, a thank you goes a long way. I know from a personal viewpoint, that gratitude is the one thing that helped me through 2020, as it encouraged me to look for the positives in everything.

But what is it about gratitude, that makes it so great? How can it help you and your business in 2021 and during the years to come? Read on to find out!

Gratitude helps keep you focused on what’s important

No matter how difficult the world may seem around you, gratitude helps keep you focused on what’s important – your health, your family, your life. You can express gratitude for the things you’re happy about, the things you want in your life, the good things in your past and present, as well as the things you’re looking forward to receiving in your future.

And when you practice gratitude, you’ll be more tuned to find and focus on the good things, and feel happier and at peace as a result.

Being grateful will help your mental health

Nothing lifts your mood faster than gratitude. If you’re an active participant in gratitude you’ll be less stressed and a lot less likely to suffer from depression. Your outlook tends to become more positive and optimistic too.

And your self-esteem often takes a positive turn upwards as well. It enables you to form stronger connections with others and be more predisposed to look after your own physical and mental health more, as a result.

Don’t keep it to yourself

But don’t keep gratitude to yourself – be a super gratitude spreader! Share it around. As this Forbes article mentions, “people often underestimate the impact of showing their gratitude to others”. It creates a powerful connection between you and the recipient, and it helps the other person feel seen and appreciated.

It doesn’t have to be complicated

The beauty of being grateful is that it isn’t complicated to do. You don’t need any special tools or equipment to do it. It helps though if you get into the habit of writing down those things you’re grateful for. The act of writing helps increase the focus and gives you something to refer back to when needed!

So if you’re looking to ramp up your gratitude, here are some simple suggestions to get you started:

  • Keep it simple 10 things each day.
  • Be thankful for your business team.
  • Acknowledge the hard work of an outsourcer who’s just emailed their completed project to you.
  • Thank someone for their contribution – even if the overall project didn’t work out.
  • Share your appreciation on social media for your mentors and influencers.
  • Reflect on why you do what you do. Remind yourself on why it matters to you and the positive impact it has on others.
  • Appreciate everything no matter how big or small.
  • Find gratitude in those negative and difficult situations too!
  • Be grateful for all the things you have coming into your life – your future goals and ambitions etc.

Gratitude is such an important tool to have in your life. Not only is it beneficial in your personal life, but it’s also something that can really positively impact on your business life too. So why not start actively implementing it into your business and see where it takes you!
