You may or may not be aware that the 21st March was World Down Syndrome Day, to coincide with this RHVA offered virtual assistant services in their ‘Admin for Charity day’ with all proceeds going to a local grass root charity ‘The Ups of Downs’ in Leamington. 10 days after completion, the invoices have been paid and I can announce the final total. I am delighted to say that we raised £1075 (£1247.19 including Gift Aid) which far exceeded our expectations.
As is the norm in the virtual assistant world the tasks undertaken on the day were varied; creation of social media images, creating & uploading contacts to a CRM, formatting process and procedure documents, plenty of research and no VA’s day would be complete without a bit of powerpoint animation!
The support received from customers, associates and friends was overwhelming. The blog I wrote giving details of why I was supporting this charity was read by 1647 people in one week, so that’s 1647 individuals who now have a little more of an insight into Down Syndrome and my relationship with it, which can only be a good thing.
LTS Distribution kindly shared our event with some of their customers and suppliers who supported us and MHA MacIntrye Hudson held a dress down day with a cake sale.
I would like to personally thank the following businesses for their support of this event:
LTS Distribution, The Work Life Balance Centre, Redhead International Ltd, Toyota Material Handling, Space2BE Ltd, The Alternative Pallet company, Spectrum Fire Protection, Industria Personnel, MHA MacIntrye Hudson, Man Commercial Protection Ltd, MF Logistics Ltd, Siteon Ltd, Paramount PA, Cureton Consulting, Just Plain Sense, Pyke Smith & Cutler, Persona Fitness, The Neal Consultancy.
In addition, I would like to thank the many individuals who donated and offered their support for any admin over flow.
Nicola Enoch of the Ups of Downs stated:
“It’s been a phenomenal success…Many thanks to all those who’ve so generously supported The Ups of Downs. I was delighted when Rachel so kindly suggested donating her earnings to both raise awareness of WDSD and fundraise for The Ups of Downs.
Our driving ethos is to empower parents to give their child with Down syndrome every opportunity to develop, flourish and achieve, by providing each parent with the knowledge, confidence, ability and resources. Funds raised enable us to provide regular pre-school and sports groups, as well as holding training events, purchasing resources and providing monthly speech and language therapy for the children by a highly trained and experienced professional.
Thank you Rachel for the wonderful initiative and to all those who’ve so kindly donated”
So thank you again from me for your support, your donation will make a difference.
