Many people I am sure wonder what I do all day so here is a brief insight into my day today.  Every virtual assistant will have a different daily routine depending on their client requirements.  Mine does change depending on circumstances, tomorrow for example I am having a day out with my son.  One of the great benefits for me of doing what I do is the flexibility it offers & for me it works because I plan.

Anyway back to my day today….

I’ve always been an early riser so I got up at 6:30am – the early bird catches the worm or in this case mucks out the horses, has a shower & checks her emails before my 18 month old son awakens.

I review my plan for the day over breakfast & re-prioritise depending on what emails have hit my inbox overnight (I have client who never sleeps!). I check my social media, make any relevant comments & save interesting articles to read later.

After taking my son to the child minder I spent a good chunk of the morning on client work which today consisted of researching meeting venues, rebranding & formatting training documents & proposals, connecting with new contacts on LinkedIn for a client & some social media scheduling. I also had a few calls from clients one between meetings & was running late so I called ahead to make apologies & the other from a client who wanted to give me an update on some sales leads I’d generated for him (all very positive).

I ate lunch at my desk whilst checking through & answering my own emails & I had a peak at Facebook, twitter & LinkedIn for myself.

After lunch I return to client work which today involved scheduling meetings on a client’s behalf, uploading contacts into a CRM, sourcing Executive Coaches for a forthcoming project & getting printing quotes.

I collected my son mid-afternoon & spent some quality time with him involving horses, tea & bath time before he goes to bed. (He has his own laptop if I have anything urgent to complete!).

In the evening I plan out tomorrows work & unless I am really busy with client work I then work on my own business, making changes to my website, scheduling my own social media, planning my networking, booking keeping & today blogging too!

Overall I love what I do.  I get to work the hours that suit me & still get to spend quality time with my son & enjoy my four legged friends.  I do have to be disciplined & working from home with a family to look after aswell requires me to make as much use of my time as possible.

I need to finish up this blog now to go & tuck up the horses in their stables.

I would be interested to know what your daily routine is & how you make the most use of your time.
