I’m sitting here with my pulse racing, knowing that once I’ve published this there will be no turning back, and I’m fairly certain that as I type there will also be an outpouring of emotion down my cheeks.
On the 26th September 2014 my life changed forever in a way that I never imagined, my daughter Ella was born. Shortly after we were told by the Doctor that they suspected she had Down’s Syndrome.  What immediately followed felt like a bull dozer hitting my chest. Ella’s diagnosis was confirmed 5 days later after genetic tests. Five months on the bull dozer is still doing its thing but just losing some of its power and momentum!
You are probably thinking ‘what on earth does this have to do with being a virtual assistant?’ Stick with me…
Upon this emotional journey of self-discovery and education I am very lucky to have met and received support from various individuals and groups, and for this I want to give something back.
The 21st March is World Down Syndrome Awareness Day, so here is my effort to raise some awareness and also give something back to one of the groups that has supported us as a family.
On the 21st March 2015 I will be giving up my time and completing administration work for individuals and businesses with all proceeds going to the ‘Ups Of Down’s’ in Leamington. This group supports parents and children of all ages, not just emotionally, but by also providing additional services to enable children with Down’s Syndrome to be the best that they can be, in addition they fund training to nurseries and schools that the children attend.
So there it is, out in the open, I’m sure some of my friends and clients are reading this and thinking I had no idea. To be honest I had only told 4 people, until today.
Going back to the 21st March, there are a wide variety of tasks that you can outsource to a virtual assistant here are some that we undertake regularly:
Administrative Support: Documentation, Proof Reading, Word Processing, Presentations, Data Entry, Rebranding, Formatting of documents

Marketing Support: Social Media Management, Newsletters, Website updates
PA Support: Meeting Arrangements, Diary Management, Internet Research
Employee Support: Recruitment Assistance, Job Specifications, Posting vacancies, Collating CV’s & shortlisting where required. Employee Surveys, Policies & Procedures, Handbooks, Training Plans.

The work you choose to outsource doesn’t have to be big, it might just be a 30 minute job that has been on your to do list for ages, or two 10 minutes jobs that you just haven’t got round to completing. So go on have a think… if you’re not sure you can always drop me an email or give me a call.
