I’m sure if you ask any female business owner why they run their own business the majority would say ‘To have more flexibility & spend more time with my family’ – I am no exception.
There are so many talented & highly qualified women (and men) out there who have now taken the initiative to work for themselves.
The point I guess I am trying to make is that these women with all their knowledge & experience offer their business services to you because they believe they can help you.
These are women (like me) who have spent many years in the corporate world, climbing the career ladder, spent numerous hours on all sorts of fantastic training courses, managed multi million pound accounts, worked with amazing individuals who have inspired them, have motivation & positive attitudes in excess. But the corporate world is reluctant to offer these women flexibility after they return from maternity leave. Sad but true, their loss is your gain.
What I would really like you to do is take a moment to think about the individual behind the business – motivated, proactive, knowledgeable, trained in multitude of disciplines from people management to technology, positive attitude, willing to put in the hours to succeed, capable, hardworking, organised, great at multitasking (don’t forget they run a family & a business) & they also experience the trials & tribulations of being business owners every day so fully understand the pressure this entails.
If you were looking to employ an individual you would jump at the chance to have somebody with an accolade like that on your team wouldn’t you? I know I would.
In the interest of balance there are plenty of men who offer these skills & run their own businesses too, 70% of my clients are male but I can only write about what I know & that is me & my experience.
So the next time you receive some correspondence from a business owner, similar to me, remember they can plug the gap in your administration team or whatever it might be, at a fraction of the cost of an employee, but they can also add a lot more value to the services they provide with the experience they have had the pleasure to get in the corporate world.
