It can be quite nerve-wracking when you first think about outsourcing to a Virtual Assistant. There’s a lot to think about and research, and if you throw in the common myths and untruths around outsourcing to a Virtual Assistant, it can all feel a little overwhelming.

But it doesn’t have to be, especially if you find the truth behind those myths. Listed below are 7 of the common myths that stop business owners from outsourcing to a Virtual Assistant. Have a read through and see if these myths are holding you back from outsourcing and taking your business to the next level.

Myth #1: You need to be an established business before outsourcing to a Virtual Assistant

Any business can start working with a VA. It doesn’t matter what size of business you have or how long you’ve been in business. There are so many things you’ll gain from working with a Virtual Assistant, and it’s those reasons why you should consider outsourcing to a VA.

Myth #2: You need to have enough tasks to hand over to make it worth their time

You can outsource as little as one task a month to your Virtual Assistant or hire them for an hour. You don’t need to wait until you have a massive to-do list to pass over, nor do you need to be totally overwhelmed before you start outsourcing!

Myth #3: Outsourcing to a Virtual Assistant is expensive

As mentioned above, you pick the number of hours a month you need, so you’re in control of how much you spend. If you’ve never outsourced before, it’s a good idea to start small and keep the costs low until you’ve established trust and confidence in working with your Virtual Assistant.

Myth #4: You can only outsource admin tasks

There are so many tasks a Virtual Assistant can do for you – and they’re not all admin! Many Virtual Assistants are great at creative design tasks, such as graphic creation or video editing. The key is to find tasks you’d like to outsource and then find a VA with matching skills.

Myth #5: You need to hire a VA full time to make it worth their while

A Virtual Assistant is there to help you and your business be more organised and streamlined. As mentioned earlier, you pick how many hours you hire a VA for – and you’ll be amazed at what tasks a Virtual Assistant can complete in a 1-hour time slot!

Myth #6: You’ll run out of things for them to do

Many business owners worry about this, so you’re not alone in wondering What tasks a Virtual Assistant can do for you. Often though, once you’ve started outsourcing tasks, you’ll begin to realise all the other tasks you can (and want!) to outsource to your Virtual Assistant.

Myth #7: You can’t track the time a VA spends on your work

This myth is borne out of fear. A fear of being in control, being overcharged or of outsourcing for the first time. But it is just a myth. Virtual Assistants track the time they’re spending on each client’s work and will send you over a detailed report to illustrate your time spent.
